CSW active in OMG API4KB Standardization

2012-12-07 18:20

The CSW group at FU Berlin joins the OMG API4KB standardization. API4KB is a standardization within OMG that aims at defining standardized application programming interface for knowledge bases (KBs).

Typical API functionalities can be distinguished into design time, run time, and management functionalities. While run time functionalities address, e.g., the parsing, access, retrieval, and reasoning from KBs, with CSW's OntoMaven we address OMG's API4KB effort by providing standardized interfaces implementing design time and life cycle management functionalities. These functionalities are defined as Maven goals which can be used to predefine typical recurring tasks in life cycle phases in ontology projects.  OntoMaven manages required resources in  Maven-based KB repositories. This includes versioning, management of reusable KB artifacts in distributed remote and local OntoMaven repositories, dependency management, documentation, testing, packaging and deployment, etc.
